About the place
The monument in memory of the children shot during the Nazi occupation of Kyiv in Baby Yar was erected in the park of the same name in 2001. The author of the sculpture was Valeri Medvedev, the architects were Ruslan Kukharenko and Yurii Melnychuk. Their names are engraved on the perimeter of the podium on which the monument stands. The sculpture symbolises the world of childhood brutally destroyed by war. It consists of the bronze figure of a little girl standing on the granite plinth and surrounded by broken dolls.
