The Botanical Garden was opened on May 29, 1964. M. Hryshko National Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in Europe in in terms of variety of collections of living plants, its area and the level of scientific research. It includes 8 scientific departments. The NBG’s unique collection fund consists of some 11,180 taxa belonging to 220 families and 1,347 genera. The most diverse climate zones of Ukraine, the Caucasus, Tibet, Siberia, and Central Asia are represented there. The world-famous lilac garden, as well as an arboretum, a mountain garden, and many more items are very popular with visitors.
