About the place
Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theatre began its existence in Vinnytsia in 1920 with a play Sin by Volodymyr Vynnychenko. For some time, the troupe, created following a merger of some actors of the Young Theatre led by Hnat Yura with the troupe of the New Lviv Theatre led by Amvrosiy Buchma, toured around Ukraine until it settled in the former building of Solovtsov Theatre in 1926.
The Theatre’s repertoire is quite diverse and includes classical and contemporary plays, musical performances; there is an experimental stage — Theatre in the Lobby, chamber stage, ballet group, choir, orchestra.
Ivan Franko Theatre often cooperates with foreign directors and tours to other countries.
