It’s the favourite pub of Ukrainian artists, the main literary cafe, the last refuge of the Ukrainian intelligentsia — all this is about Kupidon. The institution on the corner of Yevhena Chikalenka (Pushkinska) and Prorizna Streets was opened in 1995. Writer Yurko Pokalchuk was its first art director.. Today, it is another writer, Oleksandr Irvanets.
Interior design was developed by Lviv painter Vlodko Kaufman and Kyiv underground artist Kyrylo Protsenko. They decorated the cafe with a number of authentic furniture and interesting elements of the early 20th century. In addition to the European and Ukrainian cuisine, Kupidon has a bookstore with old books, named Bukinist. The first Book Crossing in the capital was organised here, and now, musical, literary and film evenings, presentations, lectures, meetings, etc. are held regularly.
