Zhovten Cinema is the oldest operating cinema in Kyiv, which started working in 1931. It had operated as the Ninth State Cinema until 1991, closed in the 90s, and resumed its work only in 2000. In 2014, the cinema closed due to a fire and was restored later.
Currently, 6 cinema halls show popular and art house movies. Film premieres are held here, films in the original language are shown, and some festivals are held, e.g., Youth, Docudays, festivals of short films, films of different countries, etc.
