About the place
The capital’s Cycle Track was created in 1912 and became one of the first in Europe. Thousands of cyclists trained here, and competitions of various scales took place here, including the 1980 Summer Olympic Games. In 1998, the Kyiv Cycle Track was recognised as a monument of history and architecture. However, that did not prevent its territory from being handed over to the developers for construction only 8 years after that, and as a result, part of the Cycle Track was destroyed. Thanks to activists, its restoration began in 2014, and already in 2017, the Kyivites saw a modernised bicycle track, which is among the TOP 10 best in Europe. Now, it houses a cycling school; trainings and competitions are held here. In the centre, a ramp was set up for performing tricks, and several tracks with different surfaces were laid around the perimeter. The length of the largest one is 285.7 m.
