Let’s go to the next place of delicacies in the capital, the Great Passage (15 Khreshchatyk St.). The ‘building-street’, which is the most distinctive on Khreshchatyk, began to be built back in 1912, and it got its modern look in 1949. According to the standards, housing was placed on the upper floors of the building, and the ground floor was entirely leased out to businesses.
Over many decades of its existence, many shops, cafés and restaurants have opened and closed here. But most of all, Passage was remembered by Kyivites as a place of fragrant Kyiv coffee and delicious ice creams. A monument to Władysław Horodecki, which shows an architect sitting at a table in a café, reminds of the gastronomic past of the Passage.
