The underground shopping centre Globus was officially opened in May 2002 as part of the Kyiv City Day celebration. Its first phase began operations a year after the reconstruction of Independence Square and was located on the opposite side of the square. Becoming one of the first in Ukraine, Globus had had no equals for a long time.
Convenient location in the historical part of Kyiv and in the centre of the capital’s business activities attracts not only Kyivites, but also tourists. Today, there are over 100 stores of Ukrainian and international clothing and footwear brands, jewellery boutiques and accessory salons, dozens of restaurants and cafes. Many visitors to the shopping centre throw coins into the fountain in the food court to return here in the future. You can always see the coins from all over the world in clear water.
